Good food and friendly patrons and staff!
Denise and Lindsay were tremendous. Both Cooks delivered photograph worthy food. It was without compare in regards to previous ownership. The condescending arrogance of the previous owner bled through every aspect. Only complaint is the name should have changed to wipe clean the Slate.
Wow, we sat down and started having second thoughts. It smelled really bad, the carpet in the dining area was filthy, one wall had a big crack in it, and the rest needed a paint job. There was a broken window, and the air conditioning was dripping on the floor through the ceiling next to our tablre. We both ordered a cheese burger and fries, which was good, but the whole time I was eating I kept thinking I would have the runs later because of the smell and the fact that the dining room was so bad I'm sure the kitchen had to be disgusting. I will not return.
The atmosphere was amazing and the service was nothing short of spectacular. Sandy was amazing and so accommodating. We walked in 5 minutes to closing and we didn't even realize it because of how warm and welcoming she was. I even asked afterwards if she would prefer we get it to go and she said it's ok and she would be happy to have us sit in. The food was delicious as well! Expertly done on some classics. We will definitely be back!
Classic breakfast dinner with counter style seating and very much an old time charm. If you like hole in the wall mom and pop type places you will be in heaven here.
New ownership and staff!!! All better now. Be very careful with what you order! I ordered three things and then received a very loud and very public lecture on wasted food and people starving around the world. The waitress told me I could not order a waffle until I finished the rest of my food. It was a very upsetting breakfast experience.
First time diner, but will definitely be back! If you haven’t been here before, Boat Town Willy’s is a small, seat-yourself diner. They have a dine-at-counter or a back seating. Now the important part, the food. On the weekends, they have specials. We had the pineapple upside down pancakes and raspberry crepes. I had a had time choosing between the raspberry crepes and the raspberry waffle, the waitress suggested the crepes. Omg. The food was the BEST breakfast I think I have ever had. I love raspberry crepes, usually get them from the Pantry or Original Pancake house; both good but they use a fruit gel/pie filling. Boat Town Willys uses FRESH RASPBERRIES! In this economy? Unheard of! Seriously, the best thing I have ever had. The tartness of the raspberry with the sweet cream. If you don’t order these this summer on the weekends, you are crazy! The pineapple upside down pancakes were like a delicious dessert. The crispy brown sugar with the fluffy pancakes was delightful. They didn’t even need syrup.
Nice little diner area in the front not sure about the main dining room I didn't venture back there to see what it looked like up front you can see the cooks and chat with them if you're sitting at the counter so I thought that was pretty cool. Very decent size menu I got the boat town Willie's omelette It was loaded came with cheese on the top two different kinds coffee water the right toast was delicious highly recommend the rye. They are closed 2 days in the middle of the week I think it's Tuesday and Wednesday but I forgot and they are only open till 2:00 p.m. so good place to go grab some lunch or brunch or breakfast depending on what time of day you head out I thought it was good I will return to try other options they do have an extensive list of pancakes and waffles with various flavorings.
